Spartanburg, SC — October 3, 2023 - American Technology Venture Lab Inc. (ATVL) proudly announces its inaugural 2023-2024 cadre to be hosted at The George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Dennis Hayes, best known as the developer of the Hayes Smartmodem and Hayes Microcomputer Products, a company that led the PC industry in connecting to the early Internet, and now the Chairman and Founder of ATVL expressed his enthusiasm. “We are pleased that Jeffrey Stinson, the new Dean at The George has been working with us to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding for using their classroom facilities.
In addition to the facility use at The George, several professors in the business school and a number of student interns are being assembled to help coordinate and manage the activities for ATVL’s four one-day sessions that will be held eight weeks apart at The George beginning December 1, 2023, with experienced mentors being selected to provide support to the ventures between the sessions.
“The Johnson College of Business & Economics is excited to host the inaugural cadre of the American Technology Venture Lab” remarked Dean Stinson. “Partnering with the ATVL to support the entrepreneurial eco-system in the Upstate is a perfect match for our mission to enhance economic development of the region.” Sponsorship and Support ATVL is actively seeking sponsors from corporations, economic development, and philanthropic sources in The Upstate. “Additionally, we are reaching out to successful entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, angels and venture capitalists, and corporate executives with a keen interest in technology ventures in the region to volunteer as mentors,” added Hayes. He further noted, “We are very pleased with the initial reaction we have received from early-stage ventures throughout the region. This is the only mentoring activity of its nature in upstate South Carolina.”
