ATVL Senior Mentor Fellow - Distinguished Career in R&D
Blaine Childress received his Master of Science in Textile and Polymer Science, with a Minor in Organic Chemistry from Clemson University in 1978. He served in several roles during his career with Cryovac Inc., including laboratory management, product development, global open innovation, and technology protection at the Duncan Global R&D headquarters, reaching the title of Science Fellow.
After leaving Cryovac/Sealed Air, Blaine served as Manager of Industry Solutions for South Carolina Research Authority, advancing industrial and small business relationships until retiring in 2021.
He presently serves as president of ChemAu LLC, guiding research and crafting and prosecuting patents for inventors. Blaine serves on the Board of Directors for InnoVision Awards, the Executive Committee of Western Carolinas American Chemical Society, and President of his church.
He is an inventor on 15 US Patents, co-author of 28 publications, and a registered a US Patent Agent. Blaine continues to prosecute and advise intellectual property pursuits for innovators and scientists through ChemAu LLC. His experience in R&D, product development and intellectual property position Blaine to be a very qualified mentor with ATVL.
